Best AF (air fried) Onion Rings!
I think I like these more than the regular fried version. In fact, they might be my favorites. This actually changed my opinion of air frying in general. While it's gimmicky to call it a fryer, with the right recipes it stands in the gap nicely.
Best AF (air fried) onion rings
1 c AP flour
2 eggs
1 c buttermilk
2 cups panko
1/4 c olive oil, Avocado oil, or ghee (melted)
2 onions, sliced 1/2" thick in rings
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp cayenne
2 tsp salt
For the dredge
In 3 bowls
-Season flour with s&p
-Whisk eggs and buttermilk
-Add panko, oil, paprika, cayenne salt and pepper and mix until well coated
For breading. Keep a wet and a dry hand
Here's the order.
Place onions in egg wash, then flour, then egg wash, then coat in the bread crumbs.
Place on parchment until ready to "air fry". Go about 10-15 minutes or until crispy and golden brown.
Serve with comeback sauce
